Personality:
Dr. Maura Isles is the chief medical examiner for the city of Boston, working mostly with homicide detective Jane Rizzoli on the city's homicide cases.

As an ME, Maura is obviously smart. Her intelligence mostly takes the form of book knowledge. She seems to have a working knowledge of most academic things, particularly medical terminology. In that sense, she's almost like a walking Gray's Anatomy. Maura is extremely precise, often calling body parts and organs by their technical scientific name. She is not one who assumes anything. At crime scenes, she's prone to refer to "reddish stains" instead of assuming that such a substance could be blood, much to the annoyance of Jane. Stuff that other people should find weird or gross, such as dead bodies, she finds fascinating. Her mind is very open to knowledge and she is incredibly curious.

As it is with many very smart people, Maura has difficulty with social situations. She was picked on as a child for being both smart and awkward. Her difficulty with people is partially what drove her to become a medical examiner. She doesn't have to speak with the dead bodies and they will not judge her. Through her work, she is actually able to help them by figuring out how they died and bringing their killers to justice. Maura has a tendency to diagnose the various ailments of the people around her, which has led to a series of disastrous dates.

Despite her nerdiness, Maura is incredibly fashionable. She is always extremely well dressed and shows up to crime scenes in what is probably inappropriate clothing for dealing with the mess there. Maura particularly likes shoes and designer labels. She had a very high class upbringing. Her adoptive parents instilled a love for high end luxuries such as fine wines, foods, art and foreign cultures. Fortunately, Maura is not a snob. She is happy to share her fine tastes with anyone, whether they have experienced such things already or not.

Maura tends to look on the bright side of most things, trying to find the good in them. Despite a good upbringing with her adoptive parents, meeting her real parents has been a source of stress in her life. Her father is a Boston Irish mob boss named Paddy Doyle. Her mother is Dr. Hope Martin, a famous forensic pathologist. Both have caused Maura to wrestle with feelings that she would rather not worry about. Overall though, she tries to have a positive outlook and promotes wellness in herself. She likes doing Yoga and eating healthily and is willing to try alternate forms of medicine - if she believes there is a scientific backing to them, such as meditation.

Maura is very loyal to her friends and family, especially her best friend Jane Rizzoli. She is going to be rather lost in Teleios without her, but she will make do. Maura and Jane have had their fights (particularly when Jane shot Maura's birth father) but they always have each other's backs in the end.
